Done! At last, I've got this finished, at least as far as the pieced top is concerned. There's still wadding to be attached, backing fabric, binding and quilting lines. But the jigsaw-assembly is over and done with. It's been driving me crackers, and there're some sections I like more than others. Those long snaky curves lines are my favourite bits, and I like the border blocks. I was uttering the odd curse word, or several, yesterday, especially with one seam that was sewn, unpicked, sewn unpicked four or five times. I'm not sure I'll ever get the entire quilt top to lie flat, there'll be the odd bouncy bumpy bit, but what the heck! I learnt a lot making this, and I'm happy with the riot of colour I've produced.
Today I'm looking out on to a snowy scene. It's not deep and I can still get out and about, but it'll probably be a Friday spent largely indoors. I might resume my Margaret Catwood needlepoint attempts, and make a few more blocks for my Terry Rowland style Colourwash quilt. There's also this, a project that I've been mulling over for a good long while.
I want to make a 'winter quilt'. Velvet, tweed, corduroy, in browns and black, grey, dark red/cranberry, blackberry-purple, autumn and winter kind of colours. This isn't a great photo, but it shows what stage I'm at. The pieces are stuffed into a brown paper carrier bag under my sewing table, and will probably remain there for months to come. I keep a lookout in charity shops for anything suitable in terms of texture and colour, but there's no rush. It'll all come together at some point. Everyone does, sooner or later.
Anyway, that's all for now. I need to get on with some boring housekeeping type stuff - hoovering, dusting, sorting laundry, prepping veggies for this evening's meal - so I'll stop typing and crack on...
