What's on the list?

As I'm the Queen of Procrastination and I irritate myself by having so many unfinished crafty projects lurking in corners, I've written a 'To Do List' and am gradually working through it.  Two items crossed off - I finished the embroidery started at Saturday's workshop, and I've finished what I've been calling my boho style bunting.  I could've sewn a few more of the triangles, but this work-in-progress has been in-progress for far too long so I assembled it and added a couple of ribbon loops to hang it from.   Each triangle's backed with yellow cotton.   I suppose I could add a beaded tassel to each pointy bit.  What do you think?  Too much?   Apart from that, I finished reading 'The Thief on the Winged Horse' which - after a very promising start - seemed to go off the boil about two thirds of the way through.  So I've picked a historic novel for my next read, 'The Rebel Daughter' by Miranda Malins.  It's set during the Engli...

Does anyone enjoy writing instructions?

I used to work as an office administrator and must've written scores of departmental memos in my time.  I prided myself on being clear, precise, making points logically and so they could be easily understood.  So why do I now struggle with writing instructions?  Maybe I want to feel I've moved on from those sometimes fun but mainly times monotonous working days?  Anyway, whatever reason, I've spent way too long this morning writing a simple blog post explaining how to make a fabric cuff.  Now, I get to write another set of instructions to be printed and included in a kit, about how to make the very same thing.  Which is fair enough, but I'd rather be sewing!  Mind you, doing this stops me from thinking about the bowlful of washing up in the kitchen, so it's not all bad.   I've got this pretty Emma Bridgewater 'Strawberries & Cream' bowl next to me, filled with embroidery thread in equally pretty colours.  The bowl's got several chips...

Birds, bunting and Bazaar

Hello, and I hope your weekend's going well.  I've got my feet up on the sofa, a cup of tea to hand and a packet of chocolate buttons, so I'm all fine 'n' dandy.  I finished the little birds I made the other day, but wasn't exactly thrilled with them.  They're okay, but not quite ... they're just 'not quite'.  So I'm giving up on making birdies for now, and these two will be wrapped in tissue paper and lobbed into the Christmas Decorations box.  They'll reappear next December and can hang on the tree, adding extra sparkle (along with the eleventy thousand baubles and shiny glittery things I already have squirrelled away.)  I've rummaged around on my dedicated crafting space (a.k.a. the dining table) and from under mounds of creative clutter bought out the bunting I began making.  After my mini bunting turned out so well I'd decided to sew a larger version, and have three triangles already completed.   Two more are underway.  I...
