A rainy day in Yorkshire, and I sensibly spent most of it indoors. There were an assortment of small craft-related tasks on my list, so I worked through them. These two grey pieces were slow-stitched applique from months ago. I'd had the original idea of making some kind of wall hanging. That never materialised and these oddments were destined to be chopped up and thrown into the small-scraps-basket (ready to be used for cushion pad filling). However, I had another idea and decided to paste them on to two rectangles of cardboard. They're going to be notebook covers instead. They've been put aside for the fabric glue to fully dry. Next on my list, adding iron-on interfacing to these pieces of white material, the remains of an embroidered tablecloth and a traycloth, both bought secondhand ages ago. The tablecloth in particular was worn thin in places and tea stained. I managed to cut out three blocks from the remaining material, and the other small strips I strengthened with the interfacing and will use as part of larger improv blocks. It'd be a shame to waste the pretty embroidery, wouldn't it? After putting the iron away, I moved on to cutting out sari and boho style fabric for the bundles I want to sell on Etsy. I couldn't list anything today as the light wasn't bright enough for taking decent photos, but I was able to decide how many fabric pieces I'd include per pack and what mix of sizes to include. Don't know what price I'll charge, but it'll depend a lot on postage costs.
With that done I wandered down to the local high street as I needed a couple of things from the Co-op (milk, batteries and - oops, seems a bag of Lindt mini chocolate eggs has slipped into my shopping basket). As the charity shop were having a 50% off sale I popped in there too. It was a good move as someone had cleared out their printing supplies. Five packs of printing stamps - I had to force myself not to buy more - were mine for a bargain price. The original price tags were on a few of the packs. I've got at least £40 worth of stamps for a mere three quid.
Home again, and I spent time working on ATCs, artist trading cards, for a Facebook group I've signed up to. We're doing an end of year swap. 26(?) people signed up to it and each supplied a theme. I picked 'underwater' as mine. Basically you make a card for each person, using their theme as a starting point. You can be literal or abstract, use paints or pencils, collage or whatever method you like of assembling your ATC. I'm on my last card, the theme being 'fairy'. I'll take a photo of the complete range of cards I've made tomorrow so you can see them. Some are better than others, and some themes I loathed. (Clowns! Who wants to draw a clown? Urgh!)
Right, that's all my ramblings for today. I need to get my fairy looking glittery and magical, rather than lumpy and bad tempered. Hope you have a good evening. Bye for now.
